Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist Speaks at Shore Fraud Conference Nov. 18

SALISBURY, MD---Some of the nation’s most prominent anti-fraud experts convene at Salisbury University during the 7th Annual Shore Fraud Conference 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, November 18, in Perdue Hall’s Bennett Auditorium.

Topics include motivations and consequences of white-collar crime, fraud in the state’s child care system and several accounts of high-profile white-collar crime investigations. James D. Ratley, president and CEO of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, keynotes the conference.

Other speakers include author and former investment executive Justin Paperny, FBI Assistant Director Kevin Perkins, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Raquel Rutledge and former FBI “mind hunter” Dr. James T. Reese.

Paperny, author of Lessons From Prison and Ethics in Motion, now uses his talents and experiences to educate others on the perils associated with white-collar crime. Perkins is responsible for coordinating, managing, and directing the FBI’s criminal investigative programs worldwide. Rutledge, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is an investigative reporter assigned to the newspaper’s “Watchdog Team.” She discusses her recent series “Cashing in on Kids.”

The conference culminates as Reese presents the latest information on anti-fraud. His powerful anecdotes of 25 years of experience with the FBI, together with over 10 years as CEO of James T. Reese and Associates, have made him an internationally recognized authority in the field.

The Delmarva and SU chapters of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), Accounting and Legal Studies Department of SU’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business and the Iota Pi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honor Society sponsor the conference.
