Quinn receives Faculty Appreciation Award

SALISBURY, MD ---Salisbury University's Alumni Association recently presented Joseph Quinn, professor of accounting in the Perdue School of Business, with its Faculty Appreciation Award during Fall Convocation ceremonies. One faculty member in each of SU's four schools received the award.

Quinn, a certified public accountant for 25 years, began teaching at SU 1989. He earned his bachelor's in business administration from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1987 and his M.B.A. from Salisbury University in 1990. Author of numerous journal publications, Quinn is also a consultant in real estate management and development whose business success translates into real-world insights for his classes.

Former students praised Professor Quinn as a mentor for professional and personal development, saying, "He not only made sure students understood the concept and material at hand, but also helped them walk away with strong analytical and decision making skills."

Each school's selection committee consisted of last year's award recipients, one other faculty member chosen by the nominee's dean, and three alumni from that school, each having different majors, backgrounds and experiences. Nominated professors must have taught full-time 10 or more years at SU, and must have made lasting and significant contributions to their graduates' lives.

Alumni Relations Director Roy Perdue said, "We feel this is one of the highest honors a faculty member can receive-one coming from their former students. We are proud that the University's high standards in the classroom have a lasting effect on our alumni."
