Registration Underway for 'Clay, Fire and Sand'

SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury University Art Department and the Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore present the two-day workshop “Clay, Fire and Sand” Saturday-Sunday, October 11-12, in Ocean City, MD.

Registrants begin the first day with the “big dig” at Even Keel Condo on 76th Street (oceanside), with preparation of the site from 2-5 p.m. The day’s activities culminate with a Clay, Fire and Sand party at the Even Keel Condo starting at 7 p.m.

Sunrise marks the beginning of day two with the “sunrise firing” at the pit, followed by additional activities (for registrants only) at Booty's Bar and Grill.

An optional breakfast will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Booty's for an additional $20 for those paying before Friday, September 5, $25 after.  Registration includes entry to Booty's at 11:15 a.m. for door prizes, a pot exchange and a two-hour throwing demonstration by award-winning ceramic artist Ramon Camarillo beginning at noon.

“Uncover and discover” takes place at 4 p.m. at the firing site followed by the beach cleanup at 5 p.m.
In addition to this workshop, registrants may attend a free pottery preparation workshop 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, September 13, at Salisbury University (registration required).

Early registration is $25 due by Friday, September 5. Firing fees for pots under 6 inches is $8 per pot with registration by September 5, $15 after. Firing fees for pots over 6 inches by 6 inches are $15 by September 5, $25 after. Pots are limited to 12 inches by 12 inches.

Long- and short-sleeve T-shirts are also available for $15-$30 depending on size and style. In the case of inclement weather events will be rescheduled for Sunday-Monday, October 12-13.
