SGA Hosts Multicultural Showcase May 4
SALISBURY, MD---Traditions of art, music and dance that transmit the beauty of heritage are forefront as Salisbury University’s Student Government Association presents its Multicultural Showcase Sunday, May 4, in the Wicomico Room of Guerrieri University Center.
The showcase includes exhibitions of Latin, African, American and European styles of dance, fashion and music. SU’s Untouchables Dance Company performs hip-hop and African dance, while University of Delaware Ballroom Dancing demonstrates waltzes, tangos and rumbas. Also featured are the SU Step Squad, a capella singers, Indian performances and the Asian Pacific Islanders Club.
“We hope to spread diversity by bringing people together to experience other cultures around the world and see what we have in common,” said freshman Alix Aurelien, the SGA’s vice president of diversity.
Other SU student groups are also involved: Casser le Moule exhibits Latin fashion, while Passion for Fashion and Modeling, Inc., shows off other designs. There also will be refreshments and a trivia contest with prizes.
