SSO Presents Children's Concert 'Music About Earth and Beyond' March 7

The Salisbury Symphony OrchestraSALISBURY, MD---A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….

No, wait. Actually, it’s Saturday, March 7, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University (SSO) presents music from Star Wars during its annual Children’s Concert, “Music About Earth and Beyond.” Curtain is 3 p.m.

Directed by Dr. Jeffrey Schoyen, the SSO also performs movements from Gustav Holst’s The Planets: Suite for large orchestra. Written between 1914 and 1916, Planets has proven enduringly popular for nearly a century since its first performance in 1918. Also in the program are Beethoven’s sixth symphony (Pastoral Symphony) and selections from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.

Narration, visuals and the appearance of a few familiar characters will help take the audience on a journey through space — without leaving Salisbury!

Admission is $10. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.
