SU Marketing Students Help 'Kick Cancer in the Butt'
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University marketing students helped “Kick Cancer in the Butt” by organizing and promoting a Kickball Tournament in November.
Some 12 teams of SU students and community residents participated in the tournament, raising more than $500 for the American Cancer Society (ACS). Playing on the front lawn of Holloway Hall, each eight to 12 member team played two games and received pizza, sodas and a t-shirt.
The project was one of 10 created by students in Dr. Paula Morris’ Advertising and Promotions Management class. Others included an ACS fundraiser at Monkey Barrel, a campus scavenger hunt that raised more than $600 for Kids of Honor, a happy hour at Brew River to benefit SU Safe Ride, a canned food drive for the Joseph House, and a dodgeball tournament that raised $300 for the Wellness Community and the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and a golf tournament for Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
Other projects benefitted the Wicomico Mentoring Project and March of Dimes. Some students also helped to create and implement a name change strategic plan for Trinity Transport.
