SU Sponsors United Way Kickoff Celebration

United WaySALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University welcomes some 250 guests to campus on Friday, September 5, for the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore’s official kickoff for its 2014-15 campaign.

Sponsored by SU and hosted by Perdue Farms CEO Jim Perdue, the event updates local CEOs and campaign coordinators from four area counties on how the United Way is making a difference in the community with programs focused on education, health and financial stability. The event also celebrates the organization’s 70th anniversary.

SU President Janet Dudley-Eshbach is among those joining United Way Executive Director Kathleen Mommé in addressing breakfast attendees. The SU student group Squawkappella also performs. Afterward, guests embark on a bus tour of two partner agencies, the Worcester County Developmental Center and Worcester Youth and Family Services, to gain a first-hand look at the organization’s impact. The day concludes with a lunch and training session for campaign coordinators at SU.

SU is home to the first United Way student chapter in Maryland and also supports the organization through its participation in the Maryland Charity Campaign.
