SU Theatre Presents 'The Glass Menagerie' Nov. 15-18
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Bobbi Biron Theatre Program brings Tennessee Williams’ career-igniting play The Glass Menagerie to the Black Box Theatre of Fulton Hall Thursday-Sunday, November 8-11 and 15-18.
Directed by Robert Smith of the Theatre and Dance Department, curtain is 8 p.m., 2 p.m. Sundays.
Thought to be semi-autobiographical, The Glass Menagerie tells the story of the Wingfield family, long ago abandoned by its patriarch. The son, Tom, supports his mother, Amanda, and reclusive sister, Laura, by working at a shoe warehouse — a burden from which he escapes through nighttime visits to local bars and movie theatres. When Tom brings home a co-worker whom Amanda hopes will make a proper suitor for Laura, the evening — and the family — disintegrate.
The New York Times calls The Glass Menagerie “fiercely moving and seriously funny.” The Los Angeles Times hails it as “genius.”
Admission is $15, $12 for seniors and non-SU students. SU ID holders receive one ticket free. Tickets are available online at www.salisbury.edu/theatreanddance. Tickets also may be purchased through the SU Box Office, Fulton Hall Room 100.
