SU's AMA Chapter Ranked Among Top 20 in the Nation
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter is among the top 20 in the nation, recently winning the Bronze Chapter of the Year award.
The honor was bestowed during the AMA’s 34th annual International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans. SU members traveled to the event during spring break to attend workshops on topics including business trends and the use of social media in marketing.
The SU chapter also was lauded for its planning of an event to promote the AMA Saves Lives initiative. Students in Paula Morris’ marketing and promotions class in SU’s Franklin P. Perdue School of Business helped raise awareness of organ donation as part of the program during an event at Brew River Restaurant last fall.
At the conference, SU AMA president Sophia Smecker of Warminster, PA, and vice president Allison Paliska of Lake Forest, CA, discussed this and other events as part of a presentation on the chapter’s success in community service.
Several SU members also participated in competitions during the conference. Paliska and Makenzie Callaway of Audobon, NJ, vied in the Northwestern Mutual Sales Competition. Paliska, Tracy Stanley of Kingsville, MD, Cody Robbins of Vienna, MD, and Afnan Idris of Baltimore competed in the SABRE marketing simulation, besting teams from Texas State, Kentucky State and Aurora universities, among others.
Students attended the event under the direction of Dr. Kirsten Passyn of SU’s Management and Marketing Department, the AMA chapter advisor.
