Sharkey Continues Writers-on-the-Shore Series Tuesday, April 1
SALISBURY, MD---Poet and author Lee Sharkey reads from her works as part of SU’s Writers-on-the-Shore series 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in the Worcester Room of the Commons.
Her presentation is part of SU’s National Poetry Month celebration.
Co-editor of the Beloit Poetry Journal since 2003, Sharkey has written six chapbooks and four full-length volumes, including Calendars of Fire; A Darker, Sweeter String; To a Vanished World; and Farmwife. Her poems have appeared in Crazyhorse, Drunken Boat, FIELD, Kenyon Review and Prairie Schooner, among other literary magazines.
She has received the Abraham Sutzkever Centennial Award in Translation, as well as the Maine Arts Commission’s Individual Artist Fellowship in Literary Arts. She also is the winner of the Rainmaker Award in Poetry, judged by Carolyn Forché.
