ShoreCorps/PALS Celebrates AmeriCorps Week Saturday, March 10
SALISBURY, MD---Shore Corps/PALS (Partnership for Adolescents on the Lower Shore), the AmeriCorps program at Salisbury University, celebrates AmeriCorps week with an event at the Centre at Salisbury 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 10.
AmeriCorps members will have display boards representing their programs in the J.C. Penney Court. They also will be available to discuss and answer questions about their service and share the impact they are having on the Eastern Shore.
Representatives from other SU community outreach programs, including Healthy U and the Center for Conflict Resolution, also will be present to discuss how they benefit the community.
Nationally, AmeriCorps Week is March 10-18. This year’s theme, “AmeriCorps Works,” communicates the program’s value and ability to provide flexibility to be used in many different contexts. It provides an overarching framework to communicate AmeriCorps triple bottom line return on investment — for the recipients of service, the people who serve, and the larger community and nation.
The two main goals for AmeriCorps Week 2012 are connecting AmeriCorps members and alumni to emphasize the nationwide effort, and communicating AmeriCorps’ powerful impact on critical problems and on the lives of its alumni.
