SALISBURY, MD---Sophanes, Salisbury University’s student theatre club, explores the perils of womanhood during “A Pair of Plays” Thursday-Sunday, April 24-27 and May 1-4.
Students in the organization direct, design and perform in two one-act plays: Charles L. Mee’s Big Love and Christopher Durang’s The Nature and Purpose of the Universe. Curtain is 8 p.m., 2 p.m. Sundays.
Big Love, directed by Camilla Morrison, is based on Aeschylus's The Supplicants. It follows 50 brides who run away to avoid marrying their 50 cousins while they deal with and discuss gender politics, love, and domestic violence.
