Two SU Art Faculty Exhibit Work in Rehoboth
"Mountain of Wisdom" by Jinchul Kim (2007)
SALISBURY, MD---The work of Salisbury University art faculty Jinchul Kim and Paul Flexner is exhibited at the AerieArt Gallery in Rehoboth Beach, DE, during September.
Featuring recent works from both artists, “Slices of Time” is on display September 1 – 28. An opening reception is 5-8 p.m. Saturday, September 1.
Born in South Korea, Kim’s work has been shown internationally, at galleries in Korea, Japan, France, Spain and across the United States. He won first place at a self-portraits exhibition held in 2002 at the Maryland Federation of Art in Annapolis. Other awards include 1986 Artist of the Year for Art Journal in Seoul, Korea. He also received the Phyllis H. Mason Grant, awarded in 1995 by the Art Students League of New York.
A graduate of King Se-Jong University in South Korea and the School of Visual Arts in New York City, he teaches painting and drawing courses at SU.
A native of Bronxville, NY, Flexner began his career as an illustrator and syndicated cartoonist for Philadelphia Newspapers after earning his MFA in painting at Penn State University. He exhibits paintings internationally and maintains professional gallery affiliations in Stuttgart, Germany. A graphic design and illustration instructor at SU, he maintains a creative studio that combines computers and easels under the same roof.
