U.S. Senator Tom Carper Speaks at SU Thursday, October 30
SALISBURY, MD---U.S. Senator Tom Carper of Delaware speaks to students and other members of the campus community at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 30, in Nanticoke Room A of the Guerrieri University Center.
Carper discusses the Constitution, environmental issues and his personal experience in politics, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The senator has been elected to statewide public office in Delaware some 13 times, beginning with the first of three terms as state treasurer in 1976 at age 29. He served five terms as a U.S. congressman for Delaware before being elected governor in 1992. He has served the state as a U.S. senator since 2001, today chairing the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
