University Center Art Space Presents 'For the Sojourn' Through February 28
SALISBURY, MD---Works by Salisbury University alumna Caitlin Murphy are showcased during the exhibit “For the Sojourn” at the Guerrieri University Center Art Space.
A reception with the artist is 4-6 p.m. Thursday, February 7. Refreshments will be served. The exhibit hangs through Thursday, February 28.
Murphy grew up in a Navy family, moving to several states before settling in Southern Maryland. An avid artist throughout her childhood, she experimented with various media before discovering she had a talent for drawing and acrylic painting. When choosing a career path, she decided to combine her love of art and advertisement to study graphic design at SU.
While earning her degree, she enrolled in painting classes to continue honing her skills, learning to use oil paints. Since then, she has had paintings displayed on campus and has been commissioned to create new pieces.
The collection on display is a representation of her strife to combine her emotional and physical connections to the relationships and world surrounding her, as well as her subsequent effort to reproduce these sentiments onto canvas in a way that is real and raw.
The Art Space is located in the Guerrieri Center’s second-floor lounge. Admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-543-6247 or visit the Art Space Web site at https://www.salisbury.edu/guc/artspace.
