February 26 SU information on COVID-19 Precautions

Salisbury University continues to work with the Wicomico County Health Department and University System of Maryland to monitor the spread of COVID-19 as cases continue to be verified in the U.S. and around the world. As of today, no cases of COVID-19 have been reported at SU or in Maryland.

As spring break approaches with the evolving spread of COVID-19, Student Health Services recommends continuing precautions including:

• Keeping immunizations up to date, including getting an annual flu shot;
• Avoiding close contact with people who are sick;
• Avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth;
• Covering coughs and sneezes with tissues, then throwing tissues in the trash;
• Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces with regular household cleaning sprays or wipes; and
• Washing hands often.

SU will continue following Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization protocol, working with local health officials to determine a quarantine plan should a positive virus occur on campus. (Please note: COVID-19 is a specialized strain of coronavirus, a family of viruses that includes the common cold. A general diagnosis of coronavirus is not the same as a COVID-19 diagnosis.)
