SU Noyce Scholarships

Current SU sophomores: Apply for Noyce scholarships; SU expects to have funding to support 12 Noyce Scholars per year through spring 2023.

Benefits

Receive a $10,000 scholarship for Junior year and another $10,000 scholarship for Senior year by agreeing to teach two years for each year of scholarship funding received.
Teaching commitment after graduation may be fulfilled in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, or Worcester County, or any other high-need district in the U.S. approved by SU. Contact the professors supervising the Noyce project to determine if a given school district qualifies.
Work with expert local Wicomico County STEM teachers to design, implement, and analyze research lessons.
Travel to professional conferences to present your work.
Prepare to become a teacher by taking coursework in STEM teaching methods, technology, classroom management, and working with diverse students.
Benefit from a professional community of Noyce peers who meet for monthly seminars and online discussions about topics that help you succeed as a STEM teacher.
Receive regular guidance from an experienced mentor teacher and a support community of your peers as you complete your first years of teaching. Analyze teaching in your peers’ classrooms by engaging in online discussion of their video recorded lessons.

Adjust your schedule to complete coursework for the SU secondary teacher preparation program; see one of the professors supervising the project if you need help.
Maintain a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
Meet all requirements to enter SU’s Professional Teacher Education Program in your Junior year.
File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and send results to SU.
Applications received by February 15 will be given first consideration. Applications will be accepted through April 15 and considered pending availability of funds.
Provide documentation of being a U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident Alien.
