PRESTO offers learners of all ages individual (and some small group lessons) in piano, strings, voice, guitar, percussion, theatre and some wind and brass instruments. We work closely with the Music and Theatre Department faculty and students.
Lessons are taught by professionals – either faculty or vetted regional musicians – OR by trained and gifted Salisbury University students (when available.) SU Student Instructors are selected by faculty advisors to whom they may consult concerning pedagogy or repertoire.
Fall 2025
Our Fall Session will include twelve lessons to be scheduled between September 15-December 12, 2025. Students and their instructors will work together to schedule their lessons that will fit both of your calendars between those dates. The winter recital date will be Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The Fall session includes 12 lessons to be scheduled between September 15-December 12, 2025.
If paying with a debit or credit card, please register online.
If paying with cash or a personal check, please call the PRESTO office at 410-548-2985 to register in person.
After registering, a student is assigned an instructor. (Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for specific instructors.) The instructor will call or email the student/parent to create a customized weekly lesson schedule for late afternoon, evening or Saturday morning. All lessons will be taught in Fulton Hall on the campus of Salisbury University.
The information should be the directions: “Parking passes are always required to park on our campus. Visitor passes are available online. Once on the webpage, use the Parking Portal to create an account and register your vehicle. The most convenient location to park will be Lot H (under the solar panels) which has an entrance on College Avenue.
For parents who may be considering home schooling for the fall semester, and are interested in submitting PRESTO lessons for arts credit, please see the information below from a PRESTO family member who has been homeschooling for 20 years in MD:
“Homeschool requirements are statewide law and not mandated by county. In fact, state law specifically forbids localities from suggesting anything in addition to state law. If you would like to read the actual homeschool law please click the link below. It is neither long nor difficult to understand:
The requirements for fulfilling any homeschool subject are set in state law as ‘the usual subjects normally taught in public schools.’ The homeschooling parent is the one who decides what satisfies the requirement. Examples: drawing lessons at Hobby Lobby, online performances, private music lessons, etc.
I do list our Presto lessons, as they already are, in my fine arts category. It more than satisfies the requirement. It's actually more arts instruction than most public schools do. I use wording something like: weekly violin lessons to include: reading musical notation, rhythm practice, daily practice of pieces suggested by teacher and music basics/scales, some history of composers/pieces.”
If you’re interested in reaching out to this parent, please contact Shawn Stone at sdstone@salisbury.edu, and I’ll ask her to contact you.
