Testing Center (DRC)
DRC operates a Testing Center for registered students approved for testing accommodations such as extended test time, reduced distraction testing space, access to reading and writing software, and various assistive technologies. All tests are proctored to ensure academic integrity. The Testing Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Guerrieri Student Union, Rm 229.
The DRC-Testing Center is committed to providing a secure testing environment. All tests are proctored. Tests are secured in a locked office. All students are required to adhere to the Salisbury University’s Policy on Academic Integrity.
Generally, exams should be scheduled to begin and end during DRC hours of operation (Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) with the exception of final exam week and/or approved requests for after-hours test proctoring support.
The Disability Resource Center utilizes AIM to manage test proctoring services. Students must do the following BEFORE utilizing the DRC Testing Center:
- Discuss the implementation of your approved testing accommodations with your professors; and
- Submit your online test request forms through the AIM portal at least three (3) business days prior to the test date due.
- If students do not make their requests according to the procedures listed above, they may not have the opportunity to be accommodated in the Testing Center. Please email DRCTestCoordinator@salisbury.edu if there are extenuating circumstances.
Students with approved testing accommodations are NOT required to test in the DRC Testing Center, Faculty are welcome to accommodate students directly. Many students with disabilities require 50% to 100% time on examinations, as shown in the chart below.
Total Class Time | Time and One Half (50%) | Double Time (100%) |
---|---|---|
50 minutes | 1 hour and 15 minutes | 1 hour and 40 minutes |
75 minutes | 1 hour and 52 minutes | 2 hours and 30 minutes |
90 minutes | 2 hours and 15 minutes | 3 hours |
DRC Testing Accommodation Agreement
When completing the DRC Testing agreement, faculty should answer all questions on the agreement fully. It will provide the Testing Center with the appropriate parameters for different types of assessments in your course.
Note: The agreement will be applied to all of the students in that section registered for testing accommodations. In addition, we ask faculty to provide good contact information in the event the student has specific questions or concerns during the test/exam/quiz.
Upon approval of the student’s request, faculty should send tests to the DRC at least one (1) business day in advance of the test date. During finals, we ask faculty to send tests at least three (3) business days in advance due to the high volume of tests during that time.
Tests can be sent to the DRC via e-mail ( DRCTestCoordinator@salisbury.edu), via the AIM Portal, fax (410) 543-6088), campus mail, or hand-delivered to the DRC (located on the 2nd floor of the Guerrieri Student Union, Room 229).
After-Hours Testing Proctoring
After-hours testing proctoring services are available during final exams week, and upon request (with at least five (5) business days advance notice). For questions or to request after-hours test proctoring support, please contact Iesha Purnell, DRC Testing Coordinator at DRCTestCoordinator@salisbury.edu.
