Who We Serve

The DRC provides accommodations, modifications, and services to students with documented disabilities enrolled in Salisbury University’s undergraduate, graduate, or regional programs. Such disabilities include but are not limited to, learning, physical/mobility, vision, hearing, chronic health, and mental health disabilities.

Eligible for Disability Services: As defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973:

  • Any person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the person’s major life activities (such as caring for oneself, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, and working).
  • Any person who has a record of, a history of, or who has been classified as having a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more of the person’s major life activities.
  • Any person regarded or perceived as having such impairment. This may encompass the following:
  • Any person who is regarded as having such an impairment that may not substantially limit major life activities, but that is treated by others as constituting such a limitation.
  • Any person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits major life activities only as a result of the attitudes of others toward such an impairment.
  • Any person who actually has no impairment, but is treated by others as having such impairments.

The DRC also provides accommodations and access to resources/services to students with temporary conditions. Examples of temporary conditions include but are not limited to broken limbs, hand injuries, concussions, or short-term impairments following surgery or medical treatments.

Who We Serve

DRC serves more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students with various disabilities and some temporary impairments who are registered with our office. These include but are not limited to students with learning disabilities, ADHD, mental health disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, brain injuries, physical and mobility disabilities, medical conditions, blind/low vision, deaf/hard of hearing, and speech/language disabilities.
