Disciplinary Records

The Dean of Students Office maintains all disciplinary files for matters involving violations of University policy related to non-academic misconduct. Files are maintained separate from academic transcripts but are considered educational records subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). These include records from the Dean of Students Office and Housing and Residence Life records related to disciplinary violations. An electronic database maintains all pertinent information. For records pertaining to Academic Misconduct and Prohibited Discrimination, please contact the Office of Academic Affairs and/or the Office of Institutional Equity, respectively, for assistance.

Student conduct files are retained until a student graduates or for the period of five (5) years, whichever occurs sooner, except for those resulting in suspension and dismissal, which are retained indefinitely. Student Code of Community Standards violations resulting in a warning will not be reported externally unless required by law. Pending charges and sanctions that remain incomplete at the time a student leaves or withdraws from the University may be kept indefinitely and reported externally as pending.
