Jackson Chamber Series at SU Continues with Tallis Scholars

By SU Public Relations

SALISBURY, MD---The world-renowned Tallis Scholars spend a night of their 50th anniversary year at Salisbury University as part of the Peter and Judy Jackson Chamber Music Series, performing 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, in the Jackson Family Auditorium of Holloway Hall.

This concert is dedicated to the memory of Judy Jackson.

The peerless Tallis Scholars have been recognized for their tireless work to establish sacred vocal music of the Renaissance as one of the great repertoires of Western classical music.

Their program, While Shepherds Watched, takes a slightly different look at the Christmas story, viewing it from the point of view of the shepherds who came to worship at the manger.

Directed by Peter Phillips, the Tallis Scholars are master performers of sacred Renaissance choral music, winning both the Recording of the Year and the Choral Award in BBC Music Magazine last year, and taking home the 2021 Gramophone Classical Music Award in Early Music.

They have sought to bring Renaissance works to a wider audience in churches, cathedrals and venues including Royal Albert Hall, the Sistine Chapel, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York, the Philharmonic Hall in Berlin, St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, the Seoul Arts Center, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London, and the Sydney Opera House.

Admission is free and the public is invited. Those planning to park on campus must register in advance for a free parking pass.
