Drug-Free Workplace Workshop Scheduled

SALISBURY, MD---Employee substance abuse costs companies billions of dollars a year in absenteeism, accidents, lost productivity, employee theft and errors in judgment.

“Building a Safe, Drug-Free Workplace,” a Small Business Development (SBDC) workshop designed to teach business owners and personnel managers how to develop policies and procedures for the implementation of a Drug Free Workplace Program (DFWP), is on Monday, May 19, from 9 a.m.-noon, in the Commons building at Salisbury University.

The course covers the following topics: why you need a drug-free workplace, how to respond to a troubled employee, the FOUR Ws of workplace drug testing and the legalities of a Maryland DFWP. To encourage candid discussions about sensitive issues, participation is limited.

The course is co-sponsored by the SBDC—Eastern Region and the Maryland

Center for Workplace Health & Safe, Inc.

The cost of the course is $35 per person. To register or for more information call Steffanie Malkus at 410-543-6516.
