Parente is Academy of International Business Finalist

SALISBURY, MD---The study of an evolutionary production method has made Dr. Ronaldo Parente, management and marketing professor in Salisbury University’s Franklin P. Purdue School of Business, one of four finalists for the Academy of International Business’ 2004 Richard N. Farmer Best Dissertation Award.

Parente’s study revolves around the strategy implications of modular production, a process that is gradually being adopted by global manufacturing firms and has important contributions to international management. Companies are implementing this method to develop products faster and at higher quality than competition, says Parente. A greater level of product flexibility can also be achieved from the method.          

He presents “Strategic Modularization in the Brazilian Automotive Industry: An Empirical Analysis of its Antecedents and Performance Implications” at this year’s meeting in July in Stockholm, Sweden. The winner receives a plaque, cash prize and publication of his or her abstract. Parente is also presenting two research papers for possible publication in the Journal of International Business Studies, the Academy’s scholarly journal.
