SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Dining Services employee Shannon Sturgis of Eden, MD, enjoys his job, and it shows. Working at SU through a partnership with Lower Shore Enterprises, he recently was named Lower Shore’s Employee of the Year. “Shannon helps SU’s Dining Services Department excel through his reliability and good spirit,” said Salisbury Chamber of Commerce Past President Michael B. Tilghman, presenting the award during a recent chamber meeting. “He shows up on time, he smiles, he helps his co-workers, he earns the respect of his supervisors, he wants to work, and he likes his job.” A dishwasher at the Commons, Sturgis said he looked forward to coming to work every day, as he has for nearly two years. “It takes a lot of responsibility,” he said. “I love it to death.” In addition to the Lower Shore Enterprises award, Sturgis received honors from SU and the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce. In the past three years, SU has hired more than 20 workers with disabilities through partnerships with Lower Shore and other organizations.
