Teacher, Author Kirkpatrick Speaks on Hearth Health December 4
SALISBURY, MD---Beth Kirkpatrick, nationally recognized teacher and author, delivers the health program “A Day in the Life” 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.
The education director for Polar USA, a Lake Success, NY-based manufacturer of integrated health systems, Kirkpatrick explains how physical activity can have an impact on lifestyle. She uses examples from individuals who have had their heart rates monitored with Polar equipment.
The designer of programs that encourage children to remain active, including The Heart Adventures, The S.O.S. Challenge Course and The Ultra Shuffle Play System, Kirkpatrick is a pioneer of heart rate monitor use in education.
She spent 15 years working with physical education teachers and top athletic programs including Division I basketball teams from Duke University, the University of Tennessee and Louisiana State University. She also has authored and co-authored several books including Lessons From the Heart: Individualizing Physical Education With Heart Rate Monitors.
Kirkpatrick has 20 years of experience teaching health and physical education and is nationally recognized for her renowned teaching methods. She has received many honors including the prestigious American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) Distinguished Leadership Award National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) Teacher of the Year Award. She has been featured on NBC Nightly News and CNN.
