Whether you are ready to declare a major or minor or would like to make a change to either, you will submit an Academic Records Update Request in GullNet. These PDF instructions will guide you through the process. You will receive a confirmation email from the Registrar’s Office after your new department has reviewed the request. If approved, a new advisor is assigned to you as part of this process.
When making a change to your program, the catalog year will automatically move forward to the current academic year. As such, you will be required to complete all general education, major, minor, and university requirements as outlined in that year’s catalog. If you prefer to follow the curriculum required in your previous year’s catalog, you can also make that change in GullNet if your desired program(s) were active in that previous year.
It is important that you declare or change your major/minor as soon as you start following a new program. For the most effective advising, please submit your change request before advising sign-ups for Program Planning (beginning of October in fall or March in spring). If you have urgent questions prior to your request being processed, please contact the professional advisor or advising services coordinator for your new program or school – you can find that information under Finding Your Advisor.
