SU Jazz Festival Set for May 3-4
SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Peter and Judy Jackson Music Program hosts a jazz festival Wednesday-Thursday, May 3-4, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.
Events begin with a concert by the EAR Alliance, featuring Jerry Tabor of the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, 7:30 p.m. May 3. Performances conclude with the SU Jazz Ensemble, directed by Tabor, 7:30 p.m. May 4.
The EAR Alliance brings together former students of the SU Jazz Ensemble and Tabor (guitar). Tom Davis (trumpet), Alex Cooper (piano), Grant Gabriele (bass) and Philip Thomas (drums) are featured in this collaborative program of all new music composed by Tabor.
The ensemble performs a selection of classic, modern and Latin jazz works. The concert features the vocal stylings of Keily Wolff. Modern jazz will also be presented, including a new composition by Tabor, written for the SU Jazz Ensemble. Several band members will be highlighted as well as guests Davis, Cooper, Gabriele and Thomas.
Tickets for each concert are $10, $5 for seniors. Admission is free for students and SU faculty and staff. Tickets are available through SU’s online box office at www.salisbury.edu/performingarts.
Patrons are asked to park in Camden Lot F (Blackwell Hall).
The Jazz Ensemble performance is part of the University’s Presidential Inauguration Week events to celebrate the installation of Dr. Carolyn Ringer Lepre as SU’s 10th President.
