Instructional Software
The Office of Instructional Design and Delivery offers pedagogical strategies, workshops and support the following instructional software:
The campus supported learning management system for online, hybrid and traditional courses. Operating using the Instructure Canvas platform, this is the primary instructional software in which all courses are automatically created.
Produce quality videos for the web and mobile devices and online courses. Camtasia allows faculty to record narrated PowerPoint presentations and screenshots. The final video can be produced to use in MyClasses, iTunes U or the web
Panopto is an easy-to-use video platform for faculty to capture in-class lectures that also allows users to create lecture or content videos for flipped classrooms or online/hybrid courses. Within Panopto, users can add interactivity to videos or collect student video recording projects. Panopto is directly integrated with MyClasses.
Respondus is software available for all SU faculty for the management of questions and the creation of tests, quizzes or exams for use on paper in the classroom or online within MyClasses Canvas.
Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within MyClasses. Similar to using Chrome, Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari, when students use LockDown Browser they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.
Student Response System is an instructional technology used to promote active learning in classrooms by rapidly collecting answers to questions from every student, and if desired, to graphically display a summary of data. This helps instructors as well as peers to engage with each other while interacting with course concepts and complex content. The system allows groups of people to vote on a topic, take a survey or answer various question types. It promotes engagement from the entire class while also reducing anxiety by students who might be more introverted.
Salisbury University has utilized PointSolutions, (formerly known as TurningPoint), applications for student response system activities since 2012. With that said, additional student response systems have been used by various faculty across the university. ID&D has prepared a comparison chart for faculty to explore.
Salisbury University is utilizing Turnitin Originality Check plagiarism prevention service through MyClasses. The plagiarism prevention service provides a systematic approach to detecting plagiarism, especially the "copy and paste" method, by detecting unoriginal content.
