The Summer STEAM Academies offer hands-on, exciting activities that will help prepare students to work and live in a future where they will use their knowledge and creativity to navigate the modern workplace.
Future Mappers Academy
- Dates: Monday, June 23 - Friday, June 27, 2025

The Future Mappers Academy offers middle school students an engaging, hands-on introduction to real-world applications of mapping and technology. Participants will use tablets and FieldMaps for data collection, fly drones to capture aerial imagery, and create interactive StoryMaps that integrate data with storytelling. They will also explore geographic information systems (GIS) to learn how mapping technology addresses challenges in urban planning and environmental management. A key feature of the program is the opportunity to develop StoryMaps for Maryland’s statewide mapping competition, which awards prizes to middle and high school students for creative projects addressing local topics. Through collaborative projects, students will enhance problem-solving skills, foster creativity, and gain exposure to professional tools and techniques. This camp is designed to spark curiosity, introduce potential career pathways, and provide a fun, technology-focused summer experience.

3d Printing Explorers Academy

- Grades: Middle/High School
- Times: Half Day - 9 a.m.-Noon
- Location: Downtown Salisbury, SU Gallery Building & Rommel Center for Entrepreneurship
- Lunch: Lunch NOT Provided

This week-long program introduces students to 3D printing through hands-on activities that blend creativity and technology. It begins with a live demonstration of an FDM printer and a safety workshop on using 3D pens. Students then progress from tracing designs to creating their 3D objects, developing spatial reasoning and design skills along the way. The academy includes both individual and group projects, encouraging teamwork and problem-solving. It culminates in a final showcase where the students present their creations to their families and peers. By the end of the week, the students will have a foundational understanding of 3D printing, practical experience with 3D pens and improved collaboration skills.

All About Health

Get ready to participate in hands-on activities related to the heart, lungs, muscles and mind! Use health care tools as you discover everything that makes the human body so fascinating. You’ll be able to practice skills like taking vital signs, assessing body movements and investigating cells with microscopes. In addition, you’ll learn how to effectively communicate through roleplaying activities. You’ll interact with cutting-edge technology. You will spend a day at TidalHealth exploring in a health care hospital setting. Along the way, you will interact with health and human services professionals who use these skills, such as nurses, physiologists, social workers, therapists, physicians and others.

Paper Circuits Academy

From sketch to spark, unleash your inner engineer with paper circuits. In this exciting hands-on course, students will explore the intersection of art, design and electrical engineering by creating functional paper circuits. Through guided projects, they’ll learn the fundamentals of circuitry-conductivity, polarity and circuit design while crafting interactive projects like light-up greeting cards, 3D models and wearable tech.
