Yes! All new first year AND transfer students must participate in both programs

All costs are covered through the New Student Orientation Fee, a one-time fee all new students pay as part of their tuition and fees.

Sea Gull Start-Up is held in person on campus. Check-in will be in the Guerrieri Academic Commons. Information regarding parking will be communicated to students and their families prior to the program.

The key to getting a scholarship or grant is to research options and apply! If you don't weigh your options, you won't know what aid is available to you. Financial aid awards don't appear out of nowhere, so you need to apply for grants, loans, and scholarships in order to get the result you want: help with paying for school!

All students living in traditional housing on campus can choose the All Access Plan or B Plan.

Students living in Chesapeake Hall or Sea Gull Square can choose from the All Access, the B, C, or D Plans.

A survey will be available in April through the Admissions Status Portal where students will need to complete and sign up for their Sea Gull Start Up date.

All students are automatically put on the roster to attend First Flight and will just need to sign in at the orientation table after their move-in time for their residence hall

A one-day, on-campus event to help students learn about academic expectations, identify resources and information specific to majors and course selection, and find out about resources available at SU to support success. There are both family and student sessions

There are 2 orientations that are mandatory for all new students to attend.

• Sea Gull Start-Up occurs in June and will run for 2 weeks. Your student will need to select one date out of the 2 weeks to attend. Each day will be a full day of activities from about 9-4
• First Flight occurs the 4 days before school begins in August. After moving in your student will sign into orientation and begin First Flight Thursday evening up until Sunday

Two guests are allowed per student.
