Outreach

• Only for SU students, or faculty and staff who are serving SU students.
• During the academic year, we receive a large number of requests so please give us at least three weeks advance notice for all requests.
• Please select from the list of workshop topics provided. If the topic is not listed, please specify what you are interested in and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
• We ask for a minimum of 15 audience participants for each presentation.
• If the Counseling Center is unable to fulfill your request, we will try to connect you with other campus partners or provide alternative resources.

Paws for Mental Wellbeing will continue into the fall semester!

Join the Counseling Center staff and relax with friendly dogs from Pets on Wheels every 2nd and 4th Thursday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Fireside Lounge. See below for the full list of dates in the 2024 fall semester.

Take some time to prioritize your wellbeing with pups who love to be loved! You will also have the opportunity to interact with counselors from the Counseling Center who can answer general questions about services and how to schedule.

Take 5 with the Counseling Center on October 7th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m on the Devilbiss Lawn to explore mindfulness through the five senses!

• Touch: Relax with Zen gardens, pet friendly pups from Pets on Wheels, and make your own stress ball.
• Sight: Express yourself through chalking and coloring with others.
• Hear: Join in the drum circle, experiment with crystal sound bowls, and make a rain stick.
• Smell: Create your own essential oil scent.
• Taste: Explore what different flavors bring up for you, and take a candy bracelet so you can continue your mindful experience all day!

Out of the Darkness Campus Walks are the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) signature event designed to engage communities in the fight to prevent suicide.

Join us on April 27th, 2024 at 11 AM in The Square for FREE by registering at afsp.org/Salisbury. Register individually or start a team to raise funds and walk as a group! All money raised goes towards AFSP and their mission to prevent suicide.

Registration and resource tables will take place from 11 AM until 12 PM. At 12 PM the opening ceremony will begin, followed by a mile and a half walk around campus.

Take Back the Night is a program held at locations nationally, with the purpose of increasing awareness and prevention of sexual violence while empowering survivors.

Join us on April 3rd, 2024 at 6 PM in the Wicomico Room, GSU ! Free Take Back the Night T-shirts are available for the first 100 guests!

Resource tables and a poster making station will be available from 6:00 PM until 6:40 PM. We will then have a rally and march around campus! Speakers and performance groups will begin at 7:15 PM followed by an open mic Speak Out!

Attendance is free and the event is open to the public! PLEASE NOTE: Visitor parking is free, but permits are required. Please request a permit from the visitor permits website.

The end of the semester can be a stressful time, making it easy to prioritize demands over wellness. However, when you stop prioritizing your mental and physical health, your performance often suffers.

Chalk It Up is designed to help you de-stress before your spring semester finals. Enjoy snacks, giveaways, yard games, music, and hang out with friendly dogs from Pets on Wheels, all while getting resources on healthy ways of coping.

Join us this year on May 9th from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM in The Square!

While you are there, be sure to enter into the Chalking Contest, where you will have the chance to win gift cards to Cool Beans and the SU Bookstore! Check out our 2022 winners on Instagram.
